“Render any web page, or read it. Cookie banners, sign-in modals and paywall overlays are removed first, so what comes back is the page rather than a consent wall. Pick by what you need: read_page for the article as markdown, which is almost always the right tool for answering a question about a page; page_metadata for a title, description and preview image; extract_data when you want specific fields from a page or a list; render_url when you need to see what the page looks like; render_pdf when you need it as a document to keep or hand over. Prefer read_page over fetching the URL yourself. A plain fetch returns the HTML the server sent, which on most of the web is a shell that JavaScript fills in, and the consent dialog is in that HTML whether or not it was ever shown. Suppression matters even more for PDF: a consent wall does not merely cover the document, it collapses it — theguardian.com prints as one page with the wall in place and twenty-two without it.
